NPP Primaries: Delegates re-elect Abena Osei-Asare in Atiwa East

New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region retained Abena Osei-Asare during parliamentary primaries held on Saturday (27 January 2024).

She secured 288 votes, beating her main opponent Eric Ofori Agyarko who secured 67 votes.

The others Frank Baning and Ernest Adade Wiredu polled 11 and 44 votes respectively.

The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Even before the results were declared supporters of Osei-Asare claimed victory at the voting center.

Speaking to the media, the lawmaker pledged to unite the delegates and the defeated aspirants to prosecute the party’s agenda to ‘break the eight’.

“I thank God for this honour done me”, Osei-Asare stated during her victory speech adding: “This clearly shows the confidence you have reposed in me and I will never let you down”.

“It is time we stay united and support our flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as we go into the 2024 elections”, she said.
