Ghana has been dealt a big blow following the injury of FC Sheriff Tiraspol midfielder Edmund Addo who has been ruled out of the two-legged fixture after a final assessment of his injury by the Black Stars medical team.

The youngster picked up a knock in FC Sheriff Tiraspol big away win over Sfintul Gheorghe in the Moldovan top-tier league last Saturday which was early thought to be just a slight knock.

After he reported to the camp of the Black Stars on Monday, the young midfielder underwent a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan supervised by the Ghana medical team.

After a successful MRI scan, the outcome indicated that the defensive midfielder won’t be available for selection in the double-header against Nigeria this month.

Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg tie of the final qualification round at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday evening

The second leg is scheduled for the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

The winner of the two legs will progress to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament

The budding talent has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Yellow and Black lads this season so far, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process.

He has capped four times for the Black Stars. He was a member of the Ghana’s squad that failed to make it to the knockout stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations staged in Cameroon.
