There is growing fear among residents of Sepaase New site, a suburb of Abuakwa in Kumasi after a partly decomposed body of a woman was found in a manhole.

The deceased in her mid-30s was found in the pit just before 10am yesterday (Thursday), January 23, Correspondent Jonathan Ofori reported.

The Crime Scene Unit at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters, was called to the scene after neighbours detected a foul smell from a bushy area nearby.

Investigators say the body of the yet-to-be identified woman was found lying prostate in the manhole estimated to be about 10 feet deep.

Her face had been buried on the ground suggesting that it may had been buried at the scene for about two weeks.

Investigators believe the lady might have been raped, killed and dumped at the scene by her assailants who police say may be familiar in the area.

At the time of filing this report, her body was being conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Police is yet to effect any arrests as they pursue the suspects.

The development comes a day after two women were found dead in a similar incident in the Ashanti Region last week.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, the body of 21-year-old Augustina Tindanzor was found lifeless after she left home for work and never returned.

Another woman was also found dead at New Edubiase in the Ashanti Region, raising concerns about the safety of residents especially women, in the region.

No arrests have been made in all cases.

The Ashanti Regional Security Council is already investigating the deaths of at least, five women, suspected to have been killed in various parts of the capital Kumasi.
