Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil has apologized to his teammates at Belgium Jupiler Pro League side, KRC Genk after his red card on Thursday evening in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.

The 25-year-old Ghana attacker was sent off in the game against the Red and Whites outfit which caused his team’s elimination from the competition into the UEFA Europa Conference League.

He scored for the Blue and Whites outfit in the game but was later sent off for bad conduct which affected his team as they handed the visitors a numerical advantage.

“I want to apologize to my teammates, the fans & everyone for the red card last night. I let you down & I’m truly sorry.”

“There is a lot to learn from this setback, and it is my wish that we use this as motivation for our next match. Together, we can bounce back stronger than ever,” he wrote on Twitter.

He’s been one of the most important players for the club for the past season and his absence on the field had a telling effect on the team as they lost and got booted out from the UEFA Europa League.
