Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, finds himself under scrutiny as critics question his ability to lead the team effectively. Despite the pressure, Dr. Ogum remains confident in his coaching abilities and believes he is capable of securing another coaching job if he were to leave the club.

Dr. Ogum, a former assistant coach for the Black Galaxies, has faced criticism due to Asante Kotoko’s poor performance in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season. The team has struggled in the second half of the season, losing four out of five league games, including disappointing losses at home.

Addressing concerns about the team’s performance, Dr. Ogum reaffirmed his confidence in his coaching skills. He stated that many clubs, both in Ghana and abroad, are interested in his services, highlighting his track record and experience in the coaching world.

Dr. Ogum revealed that he had opportunities to coach abroad before joining Asante Kotoko but was persuaded by the club’s leadership, particularly Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to take on the coaching role at Kotoko. Despite the challenges, he remains committed to leading the team to success.

Reflecting on his future prospects, Dr. Ogum expressed confidence in his ability to secure coaching positions, whether locally or internationally. He emphasized that even if he were to step away from coaching, he possesses the skills and qualifications to pursue other career opportunities, such as lecturing.

Asante Kotoko currently sits in 8th place on the league table with 32 points. Despite the team’s recent struggles, Dr. Ogum remains focused on improving their performance and achieving success in upcoming matches.

The team’s next challenge comes in the form of a match against Nations FC on Matchday 23, which will be held at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. With kick-off scheduled for 20:00 GMT, Dr. Ogum and his team are determined to secure a positive result and regain momentum in the league.
