The board chairman of Offinso Municipal Education Workers Welfare Association, Fredrick Kyei Appiah, has admonished teachers to find other sources of income to supplement their retirement benefits.

Mr. Kyei Appiah observed that the retirement benefits of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) are often not enough to sustain them. Consequently, he charged teachers to look for other sources of income to augment their retirement benefits.

“Start also early the preparation of planning for your retirement by being more careful about how you disburse and invest your salaries,” he said.

Mr. Kyei Appiah was speaking at retired teachers send-off ceremony organised at Offinso on Friday.

He also challenged teachers to take advantage of the various learning and education programmes to upgrade themselves to meet the challenges of globalization for the development of the nation.

The executive chairman of the association, Yaw Mensah Doe, also, intimated that the ultimate goal for the formation of the association is the promotion of the welfare of teachers, and called on all teachers in the municipality to join the association.
