UCC team ready for Business Sense Challenge


Representatives of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) School of Business have expressed their preparedness for the Graphic Tertiary Business Sense Challenge.

They said the team had read widely and was prepared to face any challenger in the competition, adding that they would emerge victorious.

“We are not afraid of any school competing in this challenge because we are sure of ourselves and we know what we can do. We will surely bring the trophy home to UCC”, they added.

In an interaction with the Daily Graphic after an awareness campaign of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge at the University of Cape Coast, Ms Judith Weabo Hooper Simons, who spoke on behalf of the team said she was positive that every member of the team was well prepared to give their best during the competition.

She said the team had covered most of the areas required for the competition, saying, “We UCC students are trained to be always ready for any situation and this will come to play during this competition.

 We will be put to test and we shall show what we are made of”.


Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC), an inter-tertiary business school quiz which is a partnership between Graphic Business and the Ministry of Business Development, seeks to develop the entrepreneurial skills of university students.

Fourteen tertiary institutions drawn into groups of two will compete over the next 13 weeks for the ultimate prize.

The competing schools will be quizzed on business-related topics and questions from the Graphic Business newspaper.

A lecturer at the UCC School of Business, Dr Nii Amar Amarteifio, said the competition was timely and necessary for more development in business schools across the country.

He said it would help students to learn more about the contemporary issues of the finance sector as it would focus on the various areas of business.

He called for more partnerships between industry and academia, saying it would aid in preparing students for the job market and creating their own businesses while making the future of the nation better.


An Advert Sales and Events Officer of Graphic Communications Group Ltd, Mr Emmanuel Sebeh, urged students of participating schools to support their schools by subscribing to the various social media platforms of the competition.

He said there would be questions posted on these platforms daily for students to answer and win prizes as they supported their schools.
