Students of the University Of Education Winneba (UEW) will be reporting to school today, 6 April 2019 after it was temporarily shut down due to a series of protests.

The students have been calling for the dismissal of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Afful-Broni for dismissing some lecturers and other workers of the school.

Three of the eight dismissed lecturers have being reinstated.

A statement from the University’s governing council says the University management and  academic board has been tasked to review the school’s academic calendar to cater for the time lost during the temporal shutdown also return academic work to normalcy .

Speaking in to the Media, the P.R.O of UEW Ernest Asutiga said the upcoming examination expected to begin upon resumption of academic activities has been indefinitely suspended.

“The mid- semester has been suspended indefinitely pending a meeting of the academic board on Monday to determine when it will be appropriate for them to sit their mid-semester quizzes,” he stated.
