Two suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing residents of Santasi, a suburb of Kumasi and other adjoining communities, have been arrested, say the police.

The two are; 23-year-old Samson Amoako Adai aka Kwame Odame who is unemployed and Atakora Amaniampong, a 25-year-old cobbler.

They belong to a group of four whose other members have been identified as Kwadwo aka Papa and one Emmanuel who are currently on the run.

The robbers, according to the police have been unleashing terror on unsuspecting residents and attack them at gunpoint.

According to DCOP Fred Adu Anim, the Ashanti Regional Police Deputy Commander, the members of the gang on Thursday, May 2, 2019, went to a boutique near the police training school at Patasi, at about 10p.m. and attacked the owner and two sales representatives of the facility and robbed them of their mobile phones, a cash amount of GHC3,750 and other wears which were displayed in the boutique for sale.

The gun-toting men also inflicted machete wounds on one of the victims and later bolted.

The two suspects were later arrested by the police after a tip-off.

“The two suspects, currently in custody, have admitted the crime in their respective caution statements and have led police to retrieve some of the items robbed,” explained DCOP Anim.

Police have also mounted surveillance to get the other suspects arrested.
